This is the time of year when the days feel like they will never end! Sure the long daylight hours wear on our sleep habits, but they also provide more time for us to get out and enjoy Montana outdoors just a bit longer than average.

Here are a few ways you can celebrate summer solstice around Montana:

Philipsburg 4th Annual Summer Solstice Paseo

Enjoy the longest day of the year listening to live music and strolling downtown Philipsburg. Many businesses will be open until 10pm serving snacks and drinks. This is a great family event or come with friends and enjoy the evening.

7:30PM – 10:00PM June 21, 2013

Location: Downtown Philipsburg

Philipsburg, MT 59858 Broadway Street in the Business district of Philipsburg, Montana. For more information click here.

Chalk-the-Walk

Billings Chalk Walk and Longest Day Party

Celebrate the year’s longest day today with Chalk on the Walk, a free public chalk event, on Third Avenue North with voting at 7 p.m. Then, hit the Longest Day Party from 6 to 10 p.m. at the Vig Alehouse, 501 Hilltop Road. The party features food, drinks and live music by one of my favorite Billings bands, Downtime.

This annual dawn-to-dusk (6am – 10pm) membership drive takes places on the Friday in June nearest the Summer Solstice. It highlights GVLT’s work to expand, improve, and maintain our community trails. Headquartered at Montana Ale Works, the event features bike rides for all ages and abilities on Bozeman’s Main Street to the Mountains trails, with an evening celebration at Montana Ale Works and live music from Jawbone Railroad.
