BOZEMAN—Fish, Wildlife and Parks will now be imposing a full closure to fishing effective Wednesday, July 31, on the Lower Big Hole River, from Notch Bottom Fishing Access Site (southeast of Glen) to the mouth, until conditions improve. Flows have continued to drop on this stretch of the Big Hole already under daily restrictions limiting fishing to the morning hours.

Along with continued high temperatures, flows on the Lower Big Hole have dropped below 100 cubic feet per second – the point at which the Big Hole Drought Management Plan calls for a full closure to fishing.

Biologists will continue to monitor the conditions on the Big Hole and all southwest Montana rivers. It may be necessary to implement further restrictions and closures as the summer progresses.

Outfitters and anglers can stay up to date on all emergency angling restrictions by going to the FWP home page at fwp.mt.gov<http://www.fwp.mt.gov/> and selecting Drought & Fire under the Hot Topics heading.
