If you have ever wanted to backpack in the Montana wilderness but wanted some guidance, here is your opportunity: Wilderness Institute, in cooperation with the Beaverhead-Deerlodge, Bitterroot and Lolo National Forests, will take small groups of volunteers into the Anaconda Pintler and Welcome Creek Wilderness areas this summer. Volunteers will work with experienced field leaders to map and monitor weeds, inventory recreation impacts, and evaluate wilderness character. Backcountry experience is helpful but not necessary. Dinners are provided daily and transportation is available from Missoula and select towns in the study area vicinity.
