One of the more unpleasant parts of being an outdoor woman is finding a decent place to take care of business. I was pleasantly surprised to stumble across what is arguable the nicest, well-maintained outhouses in Montana. It is located along the hiking trail known as “wild mile” in Bigfork, Montana. It is outfitted with two-ply toilet paper, facial tissue, air freshener, and get this; a library. That’s right, a whole library.
No need to check out books, this bathroom reading material is based on an exchange system. Take a book, leave a book. I am not sure it went over so well on the men’s side of the outhouses, but I found this restroom to be a breath of fresh air…well so to speak. Ladies, check it out for yourselves next time you are hiking along the Swan river near Bigfork.
