Archery Season Big Bull Elk Quartered with 4-Inch Knife

Kevin J. Nelson, of Billings, shot this 5×6 bull elk in the Missouri breaks, from 28 yards away, on September 14, 2012, almost exactly one year ago to the date.  He never got it professionally scored, but the massive elk is believed to be an approximate 275-280 bull.

Nelson was hunting with his sister, Julie, and his 13 year-old son, Andrew.  He even accidentally left his equipment bag in the car, so he had to quarter the bull with the only knife he had on him–a 4-inch knife!  Now, that is impressive.

Congratulations on the awesome bull, Kevin!  Best of luck to you this year, and remember to bring your equipment bag!
