Competitive Shooter to Give Bowhunting a Shot: Brett French Radio Show Preview

Julie Golob is a top shot. She’s the captain of the Smith & Wesson shooting team, competed on the U.S. Army marksmanship squad and has won top honors in several action pistol shooting events.

OUT090513-actionAbout five years ago, Golob moved to Glasgow with her husband and began raising a family. Since then, she’s been dabbling in mule deer and pronghorn hunting and this season plans to try archery hunting for elk.

Golob is able to translate many of the skills she learned in action shooting to hunting, and finds shooting a bow with a release is not unlike pulling the trigger. Breath control, she said, helps her steady her nerves and her aim, something that will undoubtedly come in handy if she draws back on a bull elk within 40 yards.
