There are a lot of good things to celebrate when you shoot an elk, but there are many things to be cautious of, too.

A recent article posted on ktvb.com tells the story of a seventeen year-old hunter, Kevin Wayne Jr., that was recently paralyzed during a freak hunting accident in Washington state.  Apparently, to transport the massive elk, Kevin and a few of his friends tied a rope around the animal and to one of their trucks to haul it back.  Part of the way up the hill, the rope snapped and hit Kevin in the back of the neck.

He was rushed to Harborview Medical Center and is currently paralyzed from the chest down.  The article also states that doctors fear he may never walk again.

Let this unfortunate accident be a lesson to other hunters that may have tried this method or were planning to in the future.  BE SAFE OUT THERE, HUNTERS!

Both parents had to leave their jobs to be with their son, and you can click here to send donations to help the family with the medical bills.
