I know most of us are knee-deep in the hunting season right now, but the ski and snowboarding season is just around the corner. The biggest news on the Montana ski scene this year is Big Sky Resort. The ski area south of Bozeman is now offering the most skiable acreage as well as one of the longest runs in the nation and will open for the season on Thanksgiving Day. You may remember that back in August, Big Sky announced that its owner, Boyne USA, along with CrossHarbor Capital Partners bought adjacent Moonlight Basin ski area as well as the private Spanish Peaks ski hill. That will boost ticket prices to $99, up $10 from last year, but $4 less than the $103 that visitors paid last year to ski both mountains.
