bucktussleAfter filling a deer tag on a successful hunt, I was traveling home when I saw two mature whitetail bucks in a field. I pulled over to snap some photos and saw a cool standoff play out between the two deer over a lone doe. There was no full-on horn locking, but the encounter reminded me of the kind of posturing that happens in bars on a Saturday night – two guys strutting to show off for a female who doesn’t pay a whole lot of attention. bozemanolympianIn other news, I got to interview Olympic hopeful Heather McPhie, who grew up in Bozeman. McPhie is vying for a place on the U.S. Olympic freestyle moguls team. The 2014 winter games will be held in Sochi, Russia, beginning in February. McPhie was ranked third going into this season, so she has a good shot at not only making the team but earning a medal. A fundraiser is being held for her on Saturday at Big Sky Resort, a chance to wish this Montana girl good luck on one of the world’s biggest stages.  http://bit.ly/1kYn6Ph
