HUNTING:

Hunting season is over for most of us and we hope you had one heck of a great season! Archery is still on in the river bottoms so get your cold weather camo and head out. Also still on tap is upland game bird, fall turkey, waterfowl, winter mountain lion and wolf seasons.

Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks set up an online permitting system to legally take possession of road-killed big game (deer, elk, antelope and moose). This website went operational on Tuesday. Anyone who wants to claim one of those animals they find dead can fill out the online permit, which is free, within 24 hours. State law enforcement officers will also have permits available if they are called to the site. To get your permit go to http://fwp.mt.gov/hunting/licenses/salvagePermit.html.

Remember to check your area for restrictions, closures, and alerts. www.fwp.mt.gov

FISHING:

Holding Helena Reservoir: With this cold front upon us the lake should be freezing over soon allowing opportunity for some great ice fishing. The best set up is a Swedish pimple treble hook with maggot set up, or a glow hook/maggot set up.

Missouri river: With this drastic cold front the fish are in a dormant mode meaning you’re pretty much going to have to float your fly right in front of there face to get them to bite. Use midges in olive or black in size 20. For streamers try using a weighted black or olive woolly bugger or a purple tailed leach pattern.

Hauser Lake: Not too much happening at Hauser Lake. What seems to bringing in the ling are night crawlers and raw meat. The best hours to fish are from 3pm-11pm.

Ski/Snowboard:

Great Divide: A lot of new snow to run down up on the hill making it a must to get out and hit the slopes!

Try taking CUB to Sunnyside to Broadway for a 4,000′ long easy cruising trail.

Or try 3000’ rodeo to Broadway which is a bit steeper and has a lot of fun features!!

FREE backyard/ beginner slope!!

$20 lift tickets through Sunday

Showdown: plans on opening this Friday December 6th. It all depends on snow conditions so…Pray for snow!!!
