MILES CITY, Mont.– On the evening of November 20, 2013, shortly after sunset a deer was shot and killed within the right-of-way of the Tongue River Road, approximately 35 miles south of Miles City. Wardens suspect that the deer was killed with the use of a vehicle’s headlights or with the aid of a spotlight. It appears that the individual(s) who shot the deer, then loaded the whole deer (not field dressed) into a vehicle and left the area.

Wardens are looking for help from the public in identifying anyone who was traveling the Tongue River Road that evening that may have been involved in killing the deer or witness to it. Anyone with information is encouraged to call Warden Bill Dawson at (406) 853-7800 or 1-800-TIP-MONT (1-800-847-6668). FWP is offering a reward of as much as $1,000 to anyone with information that leads to a conviction in the case.

The 1-800-TIP-MONT program is a toll-free number where people can report violations of fish, wildlife or park regulations. Callers may remain anonymous. It is similar to the well-known Crimestoppers program and offers rewards for information resulting in conviction of persons who abuse Montana’s natural, historic or cultural resources.
