Otter and Mountain Lion Districts to Close

The hunting of male mountain lions in western Montana hunting districts 280, 281, 284 and 293 & portion of 298 east of State Route 141, which includes portions of Powell and Lewis & Clark counties, will close at one-half hour after sunset on Tues, Dec. 31, 2013.

The hunting of all mountain lions in southwestern Montana hunting districts 312 and 393, which include portions of Gallatin, Park and Meagher counties, will close at one-half hour after sunset on Tues, Dec. 31, 2013.

The closure notice for the hunt came shortly after Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks officials received word that the pre-established harvest quota or sub-quota for the districts combined had been met.

The season for trapping otters in Trapping District 2 in western Montana will close at midnight on the evening of Wed. Jan. 1, 2014.

The district includes portions of Deer Lodge, Granite, Lewis and Clark, Mineral, Missoula, Powell, Silver Bow and Ravalli counties.
