One year after I made a resolution to get out fishing more, I am making the same resolution again this year…only, now I have an even better reason to follow through…
I am now the proud owner, thanks to Jason Maxwell, of a new ice fishing pole, a pole stand, a tip-up and a slush ladle, a filet knife and a collapsable hut (coming soon). This gear, along with our propane heater, Yamaha Rhino and use of a gas auger, is getting me pumped about getting on the ice. I finally have enough of my own gear to go ice fishing without borrowing things from friends, and it is a nice starter set for me.
After only ice fishing a couple of times last year, I realized why it was so difficult for me to actually get out there–because I was relying on other people to go with me. Not this year! I am officially resolving to make it out ice fishing at least once a week, whether I’m by myself or with other hard water anglers. With as hectic as my life is these days, I am looking forward to getting out there and seeing what I can catch.
