Fish, Wildlife and Parks will hold a meeting in White Sulphur Springs to discuss a restoration of native westslope cutthroat trout in Camas Lake and Big Camas Creek, in the Big Belt Mountains of the Helena National Forest.
The meeting will take place 6 p.m., Feb. 27, at the Senior Citizens Center, 101 1st Ave. SE.
Camas Lake and Big Camas Creek currently support a stocked population of Yellowstone cutthroat trout. This project would require removal of those fish with rotenone.
Proposed mitigation for the short-term loss of fishing opportunity would include stocking sterile catchable westslope cutthroat trout raised at Washoe Park Fish Hatchery, Anaconda Montana.
The meeting will include a short presentation by the FWP project biologist followed by a question and answer session.
