This is the final ice fishing report of 2014 for Helena Area Reservoirs.

Canyon Ferry: Rainbow trout fishing has been excellent on the south end of the reservoir using standard trout gear in less than 10 feet of water. No report for yellow perch, walleye or ling. Open water has been reported throughout the reservoir. Look for the spring shoreline rainbow trout bite to really pick up as the ice deteriorates. Be safe out there!

Hauser: Rainbow fishing is very good at Riverside and York Bridge and fair at the Causeway and Devil’s Elbow. The best bet for shore fishing is egg sacks and orange or pink jigs. Trolling orange or yellow crankbaits has been the best bet for boat fishing. No report for perch or walleye. There is some ice remaining in the lower reservoir, but do not attempt to go out on it. Troy Humphrey, FWP, Helena

Holter: A lot of rainbows are being caught at Gates of the Mountains on egg sacks from shore or while trolling crankbaits. There is some ice remaining in the lower reservoir, but do not attempt to go out on it. Troy Humphrey, FWP, Helena

Helena Valley Regulating Reservoir: Ice fishing season is over. Troy Humphrey, FWP, Helena
