Spring is here around western Montana! Skiers and snowboarders will be eating up bluebird days that pop up, and waiting for the inevitable spring snowstorm coming our way. Fishing Summaries:

Chancy at Snappy’s says area ice is holding up.  A lot of good reports out of Bitterroot on kokannee, still a little slush and snow on the ice.  It’s the same for Ashley Lake.  Middle Thompson has had some good reports on kokannee and a few nice perch.  On Lake Mary Ronan the perch action is pretty good; which is closed to everything but perch.  Lower Stillwater has had good reports on perch and few pike.  If you want some open water fishing the Flathead River by Sportman’s Bridge is producing some nice trout and pike.  Be sure you check the regulations because there are some strict regs on the rivers this time of year.  Flathead Lake the delta and river mouth is producing trout.   Bill Brown at Bob Wards says Browns Lake is still doing really well on pink and rocker jigs. In the Hamilton area Como Lake is producing trout and few salmon. Charlie from Don’s in Lewistown says the ice fishing on Nelson is still pretty decent. Cindy Benson from Flathead Lake talks about a good opening day for Spring Mack Days this past weekend. For more information go online to www.mackdays.com. John Harris from Lakeside Resort in Trout Creek says the reservoir is really good on pike and  perch are doing really good. Mary Beth Kibler of Kibler Outfitting says be careful on the ice and there have been reports of Northerns  Ron Aashiem march 15th was the final day to get your applications in for deer & elk bull permits.
