More spring weather and a near-record snowfall in Billings this week! Tis the season of snow and sunshine around Montana, where spring is a gambler’s paradise if you care to predict the weather. One day feels like old man winter has kicked the bucket, the next day is greeted with a blanket of white snow.

March 22nd Fishing Summaries:

-Bill Brown at Bob Wards says Browns Lake is still catching trout on pink jigs. In the Hamilton area the Upper End Skwala Nymphs are doing well. Chancy at Snappy’s says they are still ice fishing on Bitterroot Lake for those walking and not riding. Cindy Benson has our Spring Mack Days update. For more information go online to www.mackdays.com. Dallas at Highline Cleaners in Chester says they still have ice on the lake but be real careful out there. For more information call the Cleaners at 406-759-5265 in the daytime. John Harris from Lakeside Resort in Trout Creek says the reservoir has been great these last few days. Lance Meller Founder of Decked, describes his Truck Bed Storage System. For more information go towww.decked.com. Leonard from Robert’s Bait and Tackle says the ice is not safe anywhere. Mary Beth Kibler of Kibler Outfitting says be careful out there, and wait for the ice to finish melting. Ryan from Bob Wards reminds us of the start of turkey season, and in the Bozeman & Butte areas nymphing is the name of the game, and in Helena Canyon Ferry Lake the ice has pulled away from the shores so you can try snap jigging in the open areas. Woody from Woody’s Lures in Townsend says White Sulpher Springs area lakes are not approachable.
