There’s a Billings chapter of a national organization that is helping to train women on safe gun-handling and shooting techniques. The Well Armed Woman was founded in Arizona in 2012 and now has chapters around the nation, including three in Montana. The other two are in Sun River and the Gallatin Valley.
The monthly classes mix informative sessions on topics like different types of holsters, gun cleaning and gun safety. The class session is then followed by time at the firing range practicing shooting techniques. The women-only chapter in Billings has about 30 members.
