Hunting:

Spring Black Bear season closes on May 31-June15th depending on the area. Make sure you know what the closing date is for your favored stomping grounds.

Fishing:

Canyon Ferry Lake: The Lake is really low and the best place to put in is the Silos, but we’d recommend stopping by the Silos and getting instructions on putting in. Otherwise, people have been having some luck fishing from shore. We’d recommend throwing some cyclones or a floating jigs tipped with a leech.

Missouri River: Bugs have been out…and we have had some great hatches including BWOs, some Caddis, March Browns, and some Midges. We’d recommend for nymphs throwing some wire San Juan Worms in red or pink or some pink or tan scuds. For dry flies try throwing some Caddis or March Browns, and of course you cannot go wrong with a Parachute Adams or Purple Haze. For bigger flies try throwing some black/olive Wooly buggers.

Paddlefish: With late May, almost upon us paddlefish fishing is about to get underway at the Intake Diversion Dam near Glendive. If you’re interested in hooking into this large fish, whose Montana record was 142 lbs., swing on in and grab your Paddlefish tag and some gear to land one of these big fish.
