Montana Hunting and Fishing Report 5/17/14

It looks like another spectacular weekend in Montana. This weekend marks the opener of the general fishing season in Montana and the end of spring turkey. For those looking to hit the water, hear the latest reports from arounf the treasure state.

-Bill at Rock Creek Marina says the fishing’s been good and last Sunday a 13 lbs walleye was pulled in.
-Brett French Outdoor editor of the Billings Gazette shares his experience working with the US Fish and Wildlife crews on the Lower Yellowstone netting Wild Pallet Sturgeon.

-Dale from Don’s in Lewistown says Spring Creek is fishing fair.
Dallas at Highline Cleaners in Chester says folks on Tiber are doing well fishing towards the banks.  
-Jens Gran Fishing Guru says Lake Mary Ronan has some nice salmon out there.
-Leonard from Robert’s Bait and Tackle says area creeks are a bit high, but look clear for fishing.

-Ryan from Bob Wards says in the Bozeman & Butte areas, the Yellowstone to Hebgen you want to use lightning bugs, baetis, rubber legs, streamers, and definitely a slow retrieval technique. In Helena Canyon Ferry lake is very low, and folks are doing well fishing from shore on metallic cyclone spinners.
