Hunting:

It might be time to think about purchasing a Super Tag from us. This is a Lottery program put on by Montana Fish Wildlife and Parks. You can purchase one for Deer, Elk, Moose, Sheep, Goat, or Bison, antelope and mountain lion. You have until July 3rd to buy a chance to win a hunt of a lifetime.

Spring Black Bear season’s final closing date is June15th.

GAME-DAMAGE HUNTS

Registration opens June 15 for those wanting to participate in game-damage hunts including those on private land, possible management seasons, or potential brucellosis transmission reduction between elk and livestock. There may be additional opportunities for antlerless deer B licenses awarded via the hunt roster.

Register online June 15 – July 15 at fwp.mt.gov.

Fishing:

Canyon Ferry Lake: Trout have been consistently biting especially on the north end. For shoreline fishing try using some spawn sacs, night crawlers, or leeches. If you are out on a boat try trolling some cowbells or spoons tipped with a worm or leech. If walleye is more your speed try fishing the south end by the Silos. Water levels have increased and all the boat ramps are available. The average size Walleye is about 16-18” in length. Bring your crawling harnesses, bottom bouncers, and leeches and try trolling around Pond #1. Perch and Firetiger Rapalas have also been doing well.

Missouri River: The water levels have dropped from last week. Dry fly action has started to pick-up so make sure to bring some Caddis, BWOs, or PMDs to toss at any risers you might see. For nymphing, we’d recommend throwing some Caddis Pupas, Scuds, Czech Nymphs, and wire body San Juan worms.
