Hunting:

Don’t forget if you did not draw your dream tag you still have a chance by buying a $5 supertag at Bob Ward’s. On sale until July 3rd. Spring Black Bear season closes on May 31-June15th depending on the area. Make sure you know what the closing date is for your favored stomping grounds.

Fishing:

Canyon Ferry Lake: Trout have been consistently biting especially on the north end. For shoreline fishing try using some spawn sacs, night crawlers, or leeches. If you are out on a boat try trolling some cowbells or spoons tipped with a worm or leech. If walleye is more your speed try fishing the south end by the Silos. Water levels have increased and all the boat ramps are available. The average size Walleye is about 16-18” in length. Bring your crawling harnesses, bottom bouncers, and leeches and try trolling around Pond #1. Perch and Firetiger Rapalas have also been doing well.

Missouri River: The water levels have been high which has also meant that most of the emphasis has been on nymph fishing. We’d recommend throwing some Caddis Pupas, Scuds, Czech Nymphs, and wire body San Juan worms.   We are expecting water levels to drop over the next week (almost 3,000 cfs), which should help out the dry fly fishing. Once water levels are more suitable and fish are rising, try throwing some Caddis, BWOs, or PMDs.
