Some women will get their hair styled, buy flattering clothes and put on makeup to get an advantage in attracting men. So why can’t we older guys get some advantages when we go outdoors? I’m not young, tough or strong, so to make up for some of those disadvantages on a recent outing with folks who were mostly all younger, I tried out a bunch of Cabela’s gear to see if I could even the odds. I think it helped. I had sweat-wicking, mosquito-repellent-impregnated clothing to ward off bugs and keep me cool. I had a heavy duty backpack to more comfortably carry a large load. I put on waist-high waders to stay drier and warmer in the packraft. All of this gear gave me the small edge I needed to try and keep up, stay warm and comfortable. Read more about the gear I tried out by logging on to my story at The Billings Gazette’s website at: http://billingsgazette.com/lifestyles/recreation/good-gear-makes-tough-wilderness-trip-more-comfy/article_fb88e71c-0cb6-5761-9696-657c9e236eec.html
