Montana is known for its outdoor majestic beauty and hidden spots to “get away from it all”. And while we have our fair share of state and national land open to the public to enjoy and recreate, there are just as many private land owners with the resources to call a piece of this paradise their very own. But few are willing to share it like Bill Montgomery, who owns a generous portion of land on Stillwater Lake just outside Whitefish. It is a private camp that Montgomery opens up to the public for a lake music festival and seaplane splash-in on even years, this being one of them. The event is open to the public and features live music on a water-front log sound stage. music

Bring your lawn chairs and plan on a beautiful evening enjoying music by the lake this Saturday night, August 9. Stillwater lake is located 23 miles from Whitefish. Take Highway 93 northwest toward Eureka, look for Stillwater Bar on your left, the property will be the third drive to the left around mile marker 143. The event is geared towards seaplanes but parking and camping to both those flying and driving in looking to enjoy music and a weekend on the lake. For more information go to http://www.stillwaterlanding.com. I had the opportunity to fly in and camp out at the 2012 “gathering”, and put together a little video from the weekend:
