In coopeation with the Montana FWP the CB Ranch in Darby, Montana offers the opportunity for youth who receive a 100% on their hunter safety exam to shoot an elk during the hunting season. Johnny Hieland of Hamilton was one of those students.
He purchased an elk “B” tag earlier this year and was contacted by the Ranch Manager to come and hunt on Friday.
Johnny made a perfect shot at 150 yards with his .243 to bring down his first ever elk. When asked how many elk he saw he simply replied; “a lot”.
Great job Johnny!
