Scott Feddes, a Montana hunter, discovered an injured Northern Saw-Whet Owl in the road during an elk hunt this Fall. Take a look at the footage he captured in the video below, and find out what happened to the owl:
On an elk hunt this fall my son Aidan and I found a Northern Saw-whet Owl in the middle of the road, it was injured and couldn’t fly. So we caught it and brought it to the Montana Raptor Conservation Center in Bozeman, Montana. This was not a baby owl, it was full grown. One of the crazy things was how calm the little owl was through all of this. It never tried to jump out of the box or get away. It would just sit there and look at you with those great big yellow eyes almost saying, “Are you my mother?” It was such a blessing to be part of this truly amazing experience. As this video shows, hunting isn’t just about filling a tag or harvesting an animal. I believe that being a true outdoorsman requires you to respect all of nature and do what is right (not what is easy). We didn’t get an elk this year, but what we got, was worth way more than that. It was also fun to put together this video. I have had the privilege of seeing a number of different kind of owls over the years. From a Great Gray Owl to a Great Horned Owl, every time you see an owl it is truly special. And I have a question, how do they fly so quiet?
