Montana’s wolf harvest total is up to 179, as of Sunday, February 8th. Trappers have taken 55 wolves, while hunters have taken 124. To date, the only Wolf Management Unit closure remains WMU 313. Last year at this time, there were 209 wolves taken, with 71 harvested by trappers and 138 taken by hunters, which means there are 30 less total wolves taken in 2015 at the same time in 2014.
Montana’s wolf trapping season closes at the end of the month on February 28th, while wolf hunting season closes on March 15th.
