Each Memorial Day weekend campers and anglers concentrate at Tongue River Reservoir. Although off the beaten path, this lake has such a great variety of fish that it pulls thousands of anglers from Wyoming and Montana. On the fishing menu are: walleye, northern pike, smallmouth and a few largemouth bass, and crappie – an incredibly popular panfish. Although Memorial Day weekend can be a bit crowded, anglers can check out this great fishery during the week or other weekends and face less pressure. Montana State Parks has improved the campground, and they worked with Walleyes Unlimited to build a new children’s playground.
