Youth Conservation & Education Expo

Corvallis, MT – The third annual Youth Conservation & Education Expo will take place at Teller Wildlife Refuge’s Slack Barn (1180 Chaffin Lane, Corvallis) on Saturday, May 9 from 10 am – 4 pm. Over 350 kids plus their families attended this free-of-charge event last year. This year’s highlights will include a special opening ceremony with the Northern Region Mule Pack Train. Also free-of-charge, a 25-foot climbing wall will be on-site for the youth. Over 35 local and national wildlife and conservation organizations will host educational booths and activities and give away prizes. Activities include paintball, BB gun and archery ranges, Montana Fish Wildlife & Parks’ poaching trailer and laser shooting range, fly casting clinics, game calling, horse packing clinics, big game scoring and much more. Lunch will be available for purchase.

Youth 6-17 years of age who participate in 12 or more of the activities will have a chance to win one of 70 summer camp scholarships. At the end of the day, youth who complete a required series of demonstrations and hands-on applications will be selected (through a random drawing) to attend a summer camp at one of the following locations: Outdoor Adventure Camp and Little Critters Camp at Theodore Roosevelt Memorial Ranch, Dupuyer, MT; Montana Natural Resources Youth Camp at Lubrecht State Forest, Lincoln, MT; Jack Creek Preserve Youth Camp, Ennis, MT; Glacier Institute Little Kids Youth Camp, Glacier, MT. These camp scholarships are funded by local businesses, individuals, foundations and many of the participating organizations, who will also be giving away additional prizes including other summer camp, fishing and hunting opportunities.
