A 19-year old Polson man was rescued by Gallatin County Search and Rescue on opening day.

The teen called 911 for help at 7:35 p.m. as he lost daylight and became separated from his hunting part. The teen was found safe just before midnight.

The search comes after several people went missing in Montana and Idaho over bow season. Some of the stories ended in reunification while others ended in injuries or death.

Hunters are reminded to be safe as they head in to the woods. If hunting solo, leaving a note giving a general direction of the hunt and expected return date can be very helpful to searchers in the event something goes wrong.

GPS spot beacons can also be helpful in locating lost or injured people.
