Upper Salmon River Weekly Steelhead Summary Report (10-11-2015)

Angler effort on the upper Salmon River increased during the past week. The majority of anglers fished downstream of North Fork in location code 15, but effort upstream of North Fork in location code 16 increased as well. Interviewed anglers in location code 14, downstream of the Middle Fork, averaged 34 hours per steelhead caught and 307 hours per steelhead kept. Upstream in location code 15, interviewed anglers averaged 35 hours per steelhead caught. Anglers did catch hatchery steelhead in this area, but none were kept. Upstream of North Fork in location code 16, no interviewed anglers reported catching a steelhead. Angler effort upstream of the Lemhi River in location code 17 was again minimal.

The Salmon River is currently flowing at 1,010 cfs through the town of Salmon, which is 80% of average for today’s date. The river’s temperature over the weekend remained in the upper 50s.
