Hunting:  General rifle season for deer and elk is over, but an elk shoulder season is running in districts 445, 446, 449, 452, and 410—please visit Montana FWP website for more info.  If you still need any gear don’t hesitate to swing into Bob Ward & Sons for all your hunting needs.  If you still need your 2015 hunting tags or regulations swing on in and see stop at our license center.

Fishing:

ICE REPORT:

Causeway: Ice is solid about 10 inches of ice.   We’ve had a few of our guys out already and they hooked up on Ling, Perch, and trout.  Trout bite was particularly hot, ling will continue to pick-up throughout the winter. We’d recommend using some Swedish Pimples tipped with worms or smelt (smelt will be the go to for ling).  With colder weather this week ice should start forming but please be extra careful as ice conditions are subject to change.

Holding Reservoir: also is starting to ice over with about 10” of ice.  Fishing has been okay—continue jigging Swedish Pimples tipped with smelt. Salmon fishing is slow but the perch bite has been hot.

Canyon Ferry: Ice is pretty solid on the south end, about 9” of ice.  Fishing has been okay for perch and trout.

Holter Lake: The perch bite is on again and its hot. Some are calling it a perchocalypse—honestly there is a scary amount of fishermen out at Holter.  If you’re after some great fillets follow the crowd to Holter—the bite is on!
