Mountain Lion Study in California Concludes They Prey Primarily on Domestic Animals

Deer may not be the mountain lion’s favorite meal anymore according to researchers for the FWP in California.  An examination of 83 cats killed under special permits revealed that cats, dogs and other domestic animals were found in 52% of the stomachs with only 5% having deer in their stomach.  California isn’t the only state seeing pets disappear out of their backyard due to wild cats, Montana has also had a fair number of incidents reported.
