Will Smoking While Hunting Scare the Deer?

We have a good friend who smokes…a lot.  That’s his thing–fine with us.  He’s an adult.  But, whenever we hunt with him, he always smokes, and we don’t smoke, nor do we like the smell of cigarette smoke.  With that being said, we tend to not hunt with him as much.  I mean, we’re hunting.  We want to not only breathe that awesome, fresh mountain air, but we also don’t want to scare the wildlife away with the cigarette smell. The funny thing is that our friend gets his bulls and/or bucks every year while smoking.  So, what does that mean?

Well, obviously, cigarettes can’t make that much of a difference for him or other smokers…particularly avid bowhunter, Jeff Moran.  He states, “I always smoke and hunt deer and have a world class buck wall.”  Here’s his footage to prove it.

What are your thoughts?  Do you or somebody you know smoke while hunting, and does it affect your/their hunting success?
