Bitterroot River Weekend Fishing Report

With the nice weather we have been graced with this last weekend, it was a must to get out on the water.  We floated from Bell Crossing to Stevi Bridge in search of some rays and hungry trout.  The fishing was slow as we were throwing everything from Skwalas to Streamers with no bites after a couple hours.  A monster stonefly landed on the raft with about one river mile to go before the takeout.  I quickly tied on a hefty stonefly nymph and let her drop.  Within 10 minutes of wetting my line the indicator dropped like lead and I had the first and only fish of the day on the end of my line.  It took a little while to reel in as I had to baby our only fish.  It ended up being a 19 inch brown trout pictured below.  Not a bad end to a gorgeous day on the river.
