Man likely to get jail time for poaching bull elk

A Great Falls man has been sentenced to jail time for poaching two bull elk in southwestern Montana in 2012 and 2014.

The Helena Independent Record reports (http://bit.ly/1p74ZiC ) that Casey McGee, 32,  pleaded guilty to two misdemeanor counts of hunting bull elk without a valid permit and a misdemeanor charge of illegal possession of a game animal.

A plea agreement recommends that his his sentence includes fines of more than $5,000, 18 months in jail with all but nine days suspended and loss of hunting, fishing and trapping privileges for five years.

In a another separate case, McGee  pleaded guilty to charges including trespassing on restricted state lands and a private ranch in northwestern Montana and pleaded guilty to an over-limit cow elk charge.
