Snakes and Ticks

Many people don’t like snakes, and I am guessing most people aren’t a fan of ticks.  So, combine the two, and you have what is pictured above. Crazy Bone Hunting recently posted the picture on Facebook, and many people didn’t even realize snakes were prone to the blood-sucking fury of ticks.  Ironically, snakes actually eat ticks.  As a matter of fact, timber rattlesnakes are known to eat anywhere from 2,500 to 4,500 ticks a year.

So, before you get grossed out by snakes, maybe you could find a little, tiny place in your heart to show the legless reptiles some love–they are doing their part in preventing lyme disease the best way they can.  I wonder if this particular snake is the result of karma…?

Have you ever seen a snake infested with ticks like this?
