Captain’s Fishing Update: Monster Walleye and Piles of Pike on Fort Peck
By Kamp Cook
It was an eventful and fun day as the wind picked up on Fort Peck in the Dry Arm at Rock Creek Marina.
Downrigger Dale and the Captain caught only 3 walleye, but one was a monster at 32 inches.
This is the setup that caught the walleye
Heath Headley from FWP the fish biologist for Fort Peck estimates the walleye to be 12-20 years old. They released it back in the lake.
The water temp ended up at 56 degrees and with the wind it seemed to turn the pike bite on. They caught a pile of pike.
They were fishing in 25 feet of water using minnows
