A Columbia Falls man was convicted this week of misdemeanor criminal mischief.

Brad Lee Bell, 44, was given a one-year deferred sentence to county jail and was ordered to pay more than $1,800 that was caused by the damage.

Bell’s attorney testified that the case was defensible. Bell pleaded no contest in the case.

According to court documents Bell shot at two other hunters on opening day of duck season last year near Sportsman Bridge in Bigfork. The victims allegedly floated through Bell’s decoys.

The victims reported that their boat and cell phone were damaged. They also reported being struck by pellets.
