The Montana Trappers Association is hosting the Western Trapping and Outdoor Expo for the National Trappers Association in Missoula, MT this weekend (May 20-22).  Banquet tickets for Friday evening were nearly sold out before the gates opened at 8:00 am on Friday.

Over 400 people made their way through the gates to watch trapping demonstrations and to stock up on hunting and trapping supplies for the coming year in the early opening hours.

With a Friday morning turn out that included people from states all over the US such as New York, Kansas, Ohio, California, Nevada, Oregon, and the Providence of Alberta the Montana Trappers Association was proud to host hundreds of trappers and welcome them to celebrate our national heritage.

Todays (Saturday, May 21) events will include time honored events like trap setting contests, skillet toss, games for kids and trapping demonstrations every hour on the hour from 8 am until 4 pm.

The western United State’s biggest trapping event has begun and all indications are that trapping is alive and well in Montana and thank goodness for that, our wildlife management depends on it!
