Vehicles and bison herd along Red Sleep Mountain Drive.
May 7 is the day we plan to open Red Sleep Mountain Drive for the summer season. And weather and road conditions may delay opening but it will NOT open any earlier. This scenic road provides excellent opportunities to see a variety of wildlife along with numerous blooming wildflowers.

The front gate will open at 6:00 a.m. and the Refuge closes to all public use at dark (check at the front gate for posted times). Morning and evening typically provide the best wildlife viewing. For visitors coming for an evening visit, you will need to start Red Sleep Mountain Drive no later than 6 p.m. to finish the loop before the main gate closes at dark. Fees are charged for the scenic drives. Pay at the Visitor Center when it is open or use the Iron Ranger.

Start Red Sleep by 6 p.m.
