Steve Hellegaard from Missoula joined the Captain and Downrigger Dale Monday on Holter Reservoir. Trout fishing was slow with mostly small trout until they went deeper. 18 feet was the magic depth of water, and the Viking spoon Speckle Hu Ha with a light, cream-colored background with orange spots that resemble trout eggs was bringing in the fish. The combination of the depth and the lure made the larger trout active.
The weather was very nice with very little wind.
