Free fishing for Father’s Day weekend June 18-19
Whether you’re tying on a salmonfly or threading a night crawler onto a hook, on Saturday and Sunday, everyone in Montana can fish for free.
“It’s a celebration of fishing and of taking advantage of Montana’s great outdoors, so grab a pole and get outside,” said Jeff Hagener, director of Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks in Helena. “While it’s also a celebration of Father’s day, these two free fishing days provide everyone opportunity to get out and enjoy Montana’s great fishing.”
While the promotion allows anyone to fish without a license on June 18-19, all other fishing rules and regulations are in effect and must be followed.
Hagener encourages all would-be anglers to be aware of boating and water safety on Montana’s rivers and streams. Additionally, he reminds those with watercraft of any kind to remember to stop at all AIS inspection stations.
“Enjoy being on the water and some of the things that make living in Montana special,” he said.
