Right at the height of the summer season the Tongue River Marina has been shut down after an electrical fire last week caused extensive smoke and fire damage to the building’s interior. The building is owned by Montana State Parks as part of the Tongue River Reservoir State Park, but the concession is operated by Wade and Stephanie Bastrom. Wade said the fire damaged most of the building’s inventory. How much of that their insurance will cover he still wasn’t sure. Bastrom and Tongue River State Park manager Bob Peterson are hoping that some type of concession to provide ice, some drinks and get the gas pumps running again will be available soon. To read more about the fire, check out my story in the Billings Gazette at http://bgz.tt/y7j9i
