Helena Area Reservoirs Fishing Report 10.31.16

Canyon Ferry: Rainbow trout fishing has been fair from shore using worms and marshmallows at Confederate Bay, Cave Bay, and around the Silos. Boat anglers are catching a few rainbows as well using cowbells, tipped with a worm, in 20 to 40 feet of water. No report for walleye or yellow perch. Adam Strainer, FWP, Helena

Hauser: Rainbow fishing is good around Black Sandy, Causeway and the York Bridge/Devil’s Elbow area from both shore and boat. Cowbells are working from a boat while shore anglers are having success with worms, Powerbait, marshmallows and wooly buggers. Walleye and perch fishing are slow with reports of a few small walleye being caught on worms around the Causeway Bridge. Troy Humphrey, FWP, Helena

Holter: Rainbow fishing is very good throughout the reservoir while trolling cowbells or most any type of spoon or crankbait. Rainbows are being caught from shore at Departure Point and Gates of the Mountains on worms. Perch and walleye fishing are slow with some perch being caught in 40 to 50 feet of water around Cottonwood Creek. Troy Humphrey, FWP, Helena
