KALISPELL, MT October 24, 2016 – Because of recent heavy rains and snowfall, permanent repairs on the Canyon Creek Road, Forest Road #316 on the Glacier View Ranger District, will not be completed this fall.

Temporary repairs are being made to allow snowmobile traffic on the groomed route this winter.

The road is open to motorized traffic about 2.5 miles from the intersection with the main North Fork Road, to the intersection of the Ninemile Road, Forest Road #316D. From there, Forest Road #316 is closed 7 miles to the intersection with Forest Road #316C, South Fork of Canyon Creek. The Canyon Creek Road will open to summer motorized vehicle traffic when final roadwork is completed mid-summer, 2017.

Forest Road #316D is open during hunting season for hunters with disabilities. For information about accessing the road, contact the Hungry Horse/Glacier View Ranger District, 406-387-3800.

The public is asked to slow down and use caution when traveling on soft rain saturated road surfaces.  Anyone with information about road damage or unsafe conditions on the Flathead National Forest, please contact the respective ranger district in your area of travel:
