Steelhead travelling up the Columbia River come in two distinct categories: A runs and B runs.
The A runs spend less time in the ocean than B run fish and when the fish get to the confluence of the Snake and Clearwater Rivers the A runs head up towards the Salmon River and the B’s head up the Clearwater – usually.
Congratulations to Brian Gartner of Sula who fishes the Salmon River regularly and caught a big B run steelie in A run waters.
Putting a lot of time in yields BIG results! Great job Brian!
