Hunting:
It’s a new year and winter will be over before we can blink and it’ll be springtime for hunters—but bear and turkey don’t get underway until April. In the meantime, it is predator season and varmint season is coming.
Fishing:
Canyon Ferry: Ice is about 20+” south of silos. The bite has is okay. Swedish pimples tipped with Maggots or meal worms in 40-45 FOW are the ticket right now; jigging spoons of the bottom is also working pretty well. Temp. swings have had some impact on the bite…don’t hesitate to try different depths lots of guys are starting deep and adjusting from there.
Hauser: Black Sandy is fishable with about 15-20” of ice right now and guys have been hooking up with Walleye and Perch. We’d recommend some blue Swedish Pimples or a red slender spoon tipped with night crawlers about 10’ and chasing it up.
Holter: Ice is at about 10-15 inches or so and the perch bite is hot. Most guys are fishing deep at least 40 FOW up to 60 FOW jigging a 1-2 feet off the bottom. When we say hot we mean we’re getting reports of 100s of Perch getting landed daily.
