Fire officials from Madison Ranger District will soon begin prescribed fire activity which may result in visible smoke intermittently beginning March 27 through mid-May.

Firefighters will be burning piles and jackpots in the Tobacco Root Mountains in Central Madison County, primarily in North and South Meadow Creek.

Fire crews will burn under prescribed conditions and monitor these burns after ignition to ensure they stay with prescribed boundaries.

Travelers and residents between Norris Hill and Ennis may see smoke from these burns, however little impact from the smoke is expected.     For more information regarding these prescribed burns, contact the Madison Ranger District at 406-682-4253
