Montana State Parks (stateparks.mt.gov) is seeking public comment on an Environmental Assessment (EA) for a proposed Equipment/Maintenance Building at Giant Springs State Park in Great Falls, MT. Comments accepted through Friday, April 14 at 5pm.
The proposed project would construct a new 24’x40’ equipment/maintenance building on the east side of the Giant Springs Ranger Station and just south of the Fish Hatchery Maintenance Shop. The location currently has no deliberate access or use for the public. The building would require minimum maintenance and exterior colors would match existing structures in the area.
The proposed new equipment storage building would allow staff greater ease and organization in addressing inevitable park hazard situations, repairs, projects, and upkeep. Instead of storing tools and equipment in various makeshift locations or out in the elements, bringing everything together in one central and secure facility will save resources, allowing more effective management of the park and a safer and more enjoyable visitor experience.

The public comment period will be open for 30 days. The public is invited to comment by email to jtaillie@mt.gov or comment online at stateparks.mt.gov and click “submit comments”.
